As an electrical equipment product, the cable branch box is most sensitive to moisture inside, which can easily lead to accidents. However, moisture issues inside cable branch boxes may occasionally occur and cannot be completely avoided, especially when used in humid environments. What we need to do is to be able to solve this problem. So, how to resolve moisture inside cable branch boxes? Let us help you.
Solutions to Moisture Issues Inside Cable Branch Boxes:
Constant Heating Method: Install an electric heating wire with a power supply inside the switchgear to maintain relative dryness internally. This solution is particularly suitable for humid environments. However, note the following: The power supply for the electric heating wire should not be drawn from the switchgear itself but from a separate power source. This ensures that the heating wire can continue to operate even when the switchgear is powered off. Additionally, the capacity of the electric heating wire should be calculated to keep the temperature inside the switchgear within the range allowed by insulation requirements.
Air Drying Method: This method is relatively simple. It involves continuously blowing a small amount of dry external air into the switchgear through a pipe, creating a slight positive pressure inside the switchgear (the so-called micro-positive pressure). The blown air leaks out through the gaps of the switchgear, preventing external humid air from entering. Naturally, the air volume blown in depends on the air leakage level of the switchgear—generally, a small airflow that keeps air leaking out of the switchgear is sufficient. Ideally, there should be a compressed air system on-site, allowing a small pipe to be connected directly to the compressed air pipeline. For automated operation, a micro-positive pressure gauge can be installed to automatically close the air intake valve when the required pressure is reached and open it when the pressure drops, thereby saving energy.
