Abnormal Operating Conditions of Outdoor High-Voltage Vacuum Circuit Breakers
        1. Failure to Close or Open
The typical symptom is that when the circuit breaker receives a closing/opening command, the closing/opening electromagnet operates, and the ejector rod pushes open the closing/opening detent. The spring then releases energy to drive the circuit breaker, but the arc-extinguishing chamber fails to complete the closing or opening action.
        2. Unintentional Tripping
Under normal operating conditions, the circuit breaker functions properly but suddenly trips without an identifiable cause.
        3. Energy-Storage Motor Running Continuously After Energy Storage
Normally, the operating mechanism’s energy-storage motor starts only after the circuit breaker is closed. However, in this abnormal state, the motor continues to run even when the spring is fully charged with energy.
        4. Increased DC Resistance
After the circuit breaker has been in operation for a period, the contact resistance of the arc-extinguishing chamber contacts gradually increases.
        5. Rising Closing Bounce Time
During the circuit breaker’s operation, the closing bounce time keeps increasing continuously.
        6. Discharge from CT to Bracket in the Central Cabinet
When the circuit breaker is in use, the outer surface of the current transformer (CT) discharges to the bracket inside the central cabinet.
        7. Failure of Arc-Extinguishing Chamber to Disconnect
When the circuit breaker is being opened, it remains partially connected or fails to disconnect completely after the opening operation.
There is a wealth of knowledge about outdoor high-voltage vacuum circuit breakers. It is recommended that users gain a thorough understanding of the characteristics of the installation environment for outdoor high-voltage vacuum circuit breakers to lay a solid foundation for safe and effective operation in the later stage. Meanwhile, the editor from DAYA will continue to introduce more knowledge about outdoor high-voltage vacuum circuit breakers to help you gain a deeper understanding of them.
